Dry season: How much water do I need?
In the dry season, it is recommended by our gardener to water your garden 3 times a day for 15 minutes. Therefore we have set your auto irrigation accordingly. When you first enter your home you should not change this, for at least 4 weeks as your roll-on-grass needs some time with proper water usage to establish its roots.
If you are planning on adjusting the watering after the 4 week period, we suggest small changes, this way you can see how this new change is affecting your grass, then make more changes if required.
Wet season: How much water do I need?
In the middle of the wet season, it tends to rain a lot so there is no need for you to be wasting water; but we NEVER recommend you completely turn off your auto irrigation, no matter how much rain your area is getting. The reason being is, if no water is running through your irrigation, for a long period of time, you may experience issues like dirt or bugs entering your pipes. Instead, we recommend you set your auto irrigations to water your garden 3 times a day for 1 minute.
Towards the start and end of the wet season, where it is raining a little, or if you in an area that doesn’t get as much rain then others, then you may need to test different settings to see what works best for you, for example, you could have your system water your garden every second day instead of every day, give it a week, see how your garden is doing, then make another slight change. Some homes work fine with just once a week. Keep testing until you get the hang of your own home.
Do I need to fertilize my lawn & plants?
Our gardener says, depends on how good you want your lawn/gardens to look; it will have no problem growing with just water, but if you want them to look nicer; grow faster or in some cases produce better/larger flower or fruit, then you may want to apply fertiliser.
Each fertiliser has its own instruction manual, but typically you can apply it once every 1-2 months.
